I am always skeptical about hotels. But I must say I was very satisfied with our stay. The free breakfast was amazing! Our room was very clean. The staff members were very friendly, especially the breakfast hostess. The pool was clean, a little on the chilly side but the kids didn't complain. I would definitely book this hotel again!
This time, I got to see the excellent customer service of the morning manager, Nicole, on full display: My mom was staying at the hotel as well, and her luggage had not made it with her on her flight into Philadelphia. We had told Nicole about it when we checked in (which was early, btw) and it still was not delivered the next morning. My mom had been up most of the night trying everything she could think of to track it down. When Nicole heard that, she asked for the phone numbers we had for American Airlines and their 3rd party delivery service, my mom's bag number and the file number for the claim, and she said, "Let me do the calling for you for awhile!" which was such a nice thing to do, and allowed us to take a break and eat some of that yummy breakfast I mentioned earlier! When we went back to the front desk, she told us she had called American baggage claim area and demanded to speak to a supervisor. She told them the situation was completely unacceptable and did battle over the phone with them for my mom! Then she took my mom's number when we were getting ready to check out so that she could call us if the luggage arrived after we left. And she asked us to contact her as well if we heard anything so that she wouldn't be worried about it all day. Nicole made our problem her problem - the best kind of customer service!!
The night staff at the front desk is rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Chris, who looked like a homeless person with very matted greasy hair, and whoever he replaced (no name tag) were arguing verbally in front of clientele about a fight they had prior.
Thank you Nicole, for going above and beyond and showing your customers how much you really care about them. Holiday Inn, I hope you take care of this girl - treat her right, don't let her get away!
We always stay at this hotel when I come to visit my sister in West Chester, and always have a great experience! My husband's favorite is how comfortable the beds are, how quiet the rooms are, and the yummy "just press the button for two hot pancakes" for breakfast!
My room, number 126, has a huge flood light hustle outside the window. Each time the heater kicked on, the drapes parted and awoke me by flooding the room with light.
PROS:
The end of the story - we left the hotel, and were driving down the road to take my mom to the train station where she would continue on her travels into NYC (she had a concert at Carnegie Hall she will be performing in) and suddenly her phone rang - it was Nicole, with the WONDERFUL news that the bag had just arrived at the hotel! There was great celebration in our car as we turned around and headed straight back to the hotel to claim that lost bag!
The friendliness of the staff make up for the accommodations.
The exercise room has three pieces of cardio equipment but no weights or cable equipment.
Clean, cozy, and quiet. Breakfast was hot and a great start to the day. Staff was welcoming and friendly, even as they cleared the snow from pathways and had obviously had a long day. Always a nice stay. ;-)
First off, let me say that Holiday Inn Express is one of my very favorite hotels to stay in usually. I stay in many of them all across the country for business. Over the course of a year, I am likely to stay in over 100 different hotels. Usually I am using a Corporate Lodging card and have no issues with any hotels all across the country. For whatever reason, this hotel demands that you have an additional credit card on file in the event that "you may steal something" out of their rooms. They neither notify guests of this "policy" during reservation, nor work with guests who understandably don't have an extra card with them to use due to not being notified of their "policy". Even when I woke up my company's general manager to give a card over the phone, Chris, now seemingly on a mission, refused to allow her to give the card over the phone, saying "that would constitute CREDIT FRAUD"!??
In the end, I had a great night at the Hampton Inn down the street who, upon hearing about this debacle of runaway power hungry inn keepers, were more than happy to accommodate me without all the drama. Thank you, Mr. Hilton, for creating a customer friendly business to solve the Holiday Inn Express (West Chester) problem.
Personal, friendly staff who were genuinely interested in me as a person. They helped me with the flood light by lending me safety pins to hold the drapes closed at night and asking me about my family at breakfast.
CONS: The door to the room in which I stayed didn't have a door seal which meant it rattled each time any nearby door was shut.
